Big Stone Gap, VA Angie (Phillips) Poole, age 59 departed this life unexpectedly on Sunday, August 31, 2025, in Morristown TN. Angie was born in Wise County, VA., the daughter of the late: John Henry and Martha (Kerns) Phillips, Sr. Her life took her many places around the Southeast, and she worked doing several things over the years. Angie loved animals, she was passionate about pets that were in shelters, needing a home, and she adopted many over the years from people. She had a "go with the flow" type personality and was kind to everyone. She accepted people for who they were, was always supportive, and made people feel loved and respected. She made a lasting impact on her family and friends; this loss is devastating but we rest in knowing she is in a better place with all of her loved ones. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Henry and Martha (Kerns) Phillips, Sr., and sisters, Judy Vaughn, Brenda Ramey, Frances Bobich, Helen Craft,John H. “Bud” Phillips, Jr, Gene Phillips, other close family and friends. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Stephanie Lipps, Jeffrey Lipps, Brandon Lipps, and John Lipps, grandchildren: Alyssa, Kyla, Jaydin, Alexa & Kaleb, her sister Joyce Edwards, brother Scott Phillips and wife Margaret, Angie was close with several nieces, nephews, too numerous to mention, but rest assured your aunt loved you all. The family will receive friends for a visitation on Friday, September 5th, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Holding Funeral Home in Big Stone Gap. VA. (17 E. 3rd St. N.) Her funeral service will be held following in the funeral home’s chapel and conducted as a celebration of Angie's Life. The family ask that everyone come prepared to share memories of Angie, and what she meant to you. These stories her memories will be shared with all in attendance. A minister will preside over her committal service. In honor of Angie, please donate to a local Humane Society, or pet shelter in your area, this cause truly inspired her and would be a great way to honor her memory.
