Christopher Lee Rose

Seminary, VA- Christopher Lee Rose, known affectionately as Chris or "Fluff" by his loved ones, left this world too soon on April 12, 2025, in Asheville, NC. Born on December 10, 1995, in Big Stone Gap, Chris's vibrant spirit and kind heart left an indelible mark on all who knew him. Chris was a man whose life story was woven with the threads of love, adventure, and resilience. He graduated from Union High School in 2014, where he formed friendships that lasted a lifetime. Chris's professional journey was as varied and robust as his character, beginning at the Sawmill in Appalachia, VA. His strong work ethic led him to earn his CDL, working for Halliburton, and he eventually found his calling in transporting essential goods, including coal and logs, within his beloved home state. Chris's final role was a testament to his altruistic nature, as he dedicated himself to aiding flood victims in North Carolina. For now, we cry for the life Chris lived and the life he never got to live, but we also smile knowing that his legacy will continue to shine through his son and all who were privileged to know him. Chris's journey on earth has ended, but his story will be told for generations, each chapter filled with love, courage, and the unmistakable sparkle of his adventurous soul. Despite his battle with addiction, Chris never let his challenges overshadow his generosity and love for others. He possessed the biggest heart, always extending a helping hand to those in need. His interests were spending time with his son first and foremost he also found joy in fishing, four-wheeling, and especially in playing in the yard with the kids. Chris's love for music and singing karaoke with his family filled their home with laughter and warmth. The words that best encapsulate Chris are loving, kind, and adventurous. He approached life with a zeal that was contagious, and his adventurous spirit took him to places where he could both challenge himself and cherish the beauty of the natural world. Chris was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bill Jones, Christine Jones, his grandmother Shirley Slemp, his uncle Bill Jones Jr., and his first cousin, who was like a brother to him, Tyler Slemp. He is survived by his cherished son, Kipton Lee "Kippy" Rose, his mother, Trish Rose of the home; his father, Denny Rose; his siblings, Seth Jones, Sabrina Boggs and husband Billy, Jarred Rose and wife Ashlynn, Whitney Barrier and husband Andy, and Jimmy Lee Brock; and the mother of his child, Haven White, grandfather Ralph Slemp, His nieces, Piper, Ellie, Gracie, Mercy, Emma, and Nova, and nephews, Hudson, John Andrew, and Dallas, will miss their uncle's playful spirit and tender presence. his uncles, Johnny Rose and Michael Slemp, and his aunts, Lana Slemp and Pamela Slemp, along with numerous other close relatives and friends who will forever treasure their memories of him. The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 17, 2025, from 5 p.m. until 8:00 for the visitation at Holding Funeral Home in Big Stone Gap, VA. (17 E. 3rd St. N.) The funeral service will be conducted following in the funeral home's chapel with Alan Collier and Charles Barrier officiating, Special music will be provided by Morgan Terry & Russell Phillips. His burial will held on Friday, in the Barker Cemetery in Raw Hide, those wishing to attend are asked to meet at Holding Funeral Home at 12:30 to go in procession to the cemetery.
