Cora B McGee

Cora B. (Hall) McGee, 86, of Gate City, VA, entered into rest on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at Nova Health and Rehab. She was born in Scott County, VA on November 24, 1938, a daughter of the late Ezra and Bertha (Laney) Hall. Cora was of the Baptist Faith and was a loving mother, mamaw, sister, aunt and friend. She is loved very much by her family and friends and will be greatly missed. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mack McGee; daughter-in-law, Judy Hall; Son-in-law, David McMurray; Grandson, Brian Farmer; Granddaughter, Natosha Gibson; Brothers, Bill Laney, Jim Hall and Joe Hall; Sisters, Ruby Chandler, Wilma Lovejoy, Marie Peak, Gaynell Okeefer, Teresa Meade and Frances Davis; Step-son, Mack McGee, Jr. Surviving are her sons, Mike (Helen) Hall, Vannie (Angel) Laney, Tim (Lisa) Laney, Randy (Tammy) Laney, Steve Laney, Ronnie (Jan) Laney, Donnie (Robin) Laney, Shawn Laney and Shannon Williams; daughters, Kim McMurray, Karan Williams and Lacy Sproles; step-son, Nolan McGee; sisters, Bobbie Ramsey, Glenna McCracken, and Stella Baker; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at Gateway Baptist Church, 155 Shady Elm LN, Weber City, VA. Services will be held at 7:00 pm with Rev. Curtis Peak, Jr. officiating. Music will be provided by Danny Darnell. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 am Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Family and friends are asked to meet at 10:50 am at the cemetery for the graveside service. Pallbearers will be Cora’s Grandsons. Flowers may be delivered to the church after 9:00 am Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital by visiting their website: www.shrinerschildrens.org or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital by visiting their website: www.stjude.org.
