Helen Irene Lovell

Proverbs 31:25-28 Big Stone Gap, VA Helen Irene Phipps Lovell, 81, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday (Sept. 11, 2013). She joined her husband, three of her children and loved ones who have preceded her in death. Helen was a member of New Hope Assembly of God and loved her church family. She loved to listen to taped services from her church. The family would like to express their appreciation to Pastor Rick Whitten, Mary Ellen Whitten and the church family who continued to support Helen over the years. Helen was a devoted and loving mother, sister grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend to her family and friends. She was a homemaker and caregiver. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Marshall Lovell, Sr., who was the love of her life; a daughter, Diania Marie Lovell Barnett; two sons, Richard Steven Lovell and Timothy Allen Lovell; her parents, Worley and Nosey Phipps; brothers, James Phipps, Harold Phipps, Glen Phipps and twin brothers who were stillborn; and sisters, Marie Phipps and Ruth Wilson. Helen is survived by six daughters, Jackie Bowman and husband Frank, Cathy Lambert and husband C. O., Louise Barnett and husband Gus, Janet Williams and husband Claud, Teresa Williams and husband James and Leisa Gilley and husband Tony; two sons, Henry M. Lovell, Jr. and wife Doshia and Keith Lovell and wife Bobbie Jo; daughter-in-law, Gina Lovell; son-in-law, "Cotton" Barnett; grandchildren, Frank Bowman, Jr., Erick Bowman, Shawne Bowman, Charles Lambert, Jr., Katie Phillips, Amanda Barnett, Jill Barnett, Chad Bartee, Chris Bartee, Nicklas Lovell, Cody Lovell, Hillary Lovell, Megan Lovell, Ben Lovell, Elizabeth Lovell, Christi Butler, Brittney Estep, Zach Lovell, Spencer Bowman, Gary Bowman, Cory Williams, Dustin Williams, Glenda Sturgill, Jamie Williams, Danny Barnett, Josh Barnett, Steve Barnett, and Megan Gilley; great grandchildren, Morgan Bowman, Madison Bowman, Bryson Bowman, Jacob Bowman, Jessica Wines, Brandon Wines, Jonathan Bowman, Frank Bowman, III, Woody Franklin, Daniel Franklin, Hannah Phillips, Sarah Phillips, Caleb Phillps, Tyler Young, Jay Barnett, Calep Bartee, Canden Bartee, Caiden Bartee, Xander Bartee, Zaine Lovell, Jaiden Estep, Steve Parsons, Audrey Nichlos, Cheyene Nichlos, Kandace Sturgill, Kelli Bowman, Lynzee Sturgill, Jalynn Bowman, Lashanda Barnett, Damian Barnett, Dalton Barnett, Destiny Barnett, Adam Barnett, Jacob Barnett, Dakota Barnett, Danielle Barnett, Robin Barnett, "Stevie" Barnett, Sky Barnett, Case Barnett, Israel Fox, Rebekah Fox and Eli Rutherford; a great-great grandson, Tyler Wines; three sisters, Jeanette Barker and husband Dallas, Barbara Boggs and Shirley Spears; Anna Mae Barton, a devoted friend of the Lovell family and especially Helen; several nieces and nephews, friends and extended family. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 2 p.m. on Saturday (Sept. 14, 2013) at the New Hope Assembly of God (1405 1st Ave., E.) in Big Stone Gap. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Rick Whitten officiating. Interment will follow at Glencoe Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
