Louis Darnel Fletcher

Rose Hill, VA- Louis Darnel Fletcher, affectionately known as Darnel to his friends and family, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on October 25, 2024, in Pennington Gap, VA. Born on June 16, 1963, in Olney, MD, Darnel’s zest for life and unwavering spirit left an indelible mark on all who knew him. Darnel was a man of many talents and embodied the true essence of a jack of all trades. His early life in Gaithersburg laid a strong foundation for his future, as he graduated from Gaithersburg High School and soon demonstrated a robust work ethic and a knack for problem-solving. With his hands, he could craft a solution to any problem, and his later years saw him managing a successful lawn maintenance company that served as a testament to his dedication and entrepreneurial spirit. A man who found joy in the simple pleasures of life, Darnel’s love for music was profound. He could often be found strumming his guitar, creating melodies that resonated with the hearts of his loved ones. His passion for cooking out was more than just about the food; it was about the moments shared and the memories made with family and friends. Darnel’s mechanical skills were unmatched, and his ability to tinker and repair was a hobby that often brought comfort to those around him. Darnel was preceded in death by his father, George Edward Fletcher, and his brother, Raymond Clyde Fletcher. Darnel’s legacy is carried on by his beloved wife, Diane Fletcher, who was his partner in life and love. His memory will be cherished by his children, Jacklyn Brock and her husband James, Angela Owens and her husband Harold, and sons Daniel Fletcher and his wife Caitlin Fletcher, Brandon Eugene Owens, William Jeremy Owens, Andrew Mcvay and his wife Dannette, Sean Fletcher, and Brandon Fletcher. His mother, Norma Jean Fletcher, brothers, Tracy Fletcher and wife Laura Bundy, Tony Fletcher, sister Shannon Campbell and husband Donnie, he was a proud grandfather to Serinity, Paisley, Riley, Sebastian, Bentley, Ryan, Zachary, Landon, Lincoln, and Landon, other close relatives and friends. The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at VanHuss Grove Church from 12 noon until 1:00 p.m. for the visitation. (237 Van Huss Grove Church Dr, Rose Hill, VA 24281) The funeral service will be conducted in Vanhuss chapel following the visitation with Brother Branson officiating. Mr. Fletchers committal service will be held following in the VanHuss Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
