Chief Michael Allen Brady

Michael Allen Brady-"Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." — John 15:13 Michael Allen Brady, 53, passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Charlottesville Medical Center. Michael was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, son, friend, and firefighter who devoted his life to serving others. He faithfully served his community as Chief of the Jasper Fire Department, proudly known by the call sign "Chief 900." His courage, leadership, and selfless dedication earned him the respect and admiration of his fellow firefighters and all who knew him. Whether answering an emergency call or lending a helping hand to someone in need, Michael always put others before himself. Above all, Michael cherished his family. He was a devoted father. He was a loyal friend, a trusted mentor, and a man whose kindness and generosity touched countless lives. His legacy of service, compassion, and unwavering commitment to his family and community will live on for generations. He was preceded in death by his grandparents. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Heather Brady; his children, Alexis Blanken, Delina Brady, James Brady, and AAliyah Brady; his mother, Donna Gale Wolfe; his beloved grandchildren, Dalton, Lucas, and Sienna; his uncle, David Brady; and his many brothers and sisters of the Jasper Fire Department, who were family to him in every sense of the word. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Holding Funeral Home in Big Stone Gap. A funeral service will be conducted immediately following the visitation. Graveside services will be held on Friday, July 3, 2026, at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens. Those wishing to attend are asked to assemble at Holding Funeral Home at 12:30 p.m. to travel in procession to the cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Austin Phillips, James Brady, Harvey Mullins, Micah Rogers, Anthony Lowell, Danny Sluss, and Chris Carter. In a final tribute to his years of faithful service, Michael will be carried to his place of rest aboard Jasper Fire Department's engine 9,surrounded by his fellow firefighters and loved ones. Michael's life was defined by service, sacrifice, and love. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will forever remain in the hearts of his family, friends, fellow firefighters, and the community he so faithfully served.
