Robert L Johnson

Morristown, TN. Robert L. Johnson, 76 of Morristown, TN entered into his eternal rest on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at Select Specialty Hospital-Knoxville, TN surrounded by his loving family. Born in Middlesboro, Ky: the son of the late Lilburn Lee Johnson and Alma Estelle Johnson; Robert was a graduate of Flatwoods High School and later served his country proudly as PFC, E-3 during the Vietnam war from December 1965 to August 1967 when he was honorably discharged. Robert was retired from Berkline, where he was known by his coworkers as “Red.” Robert was passionate about softball and enjoyed playing the game, well into his golden years. In his later years of retirement, Robert enjoyed the slower pace of spending time with his family; especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the light of his life. Robert will be deeply missed by all who had the opportunity to know him. In addition to his parents, Robert is proceeded in death by his loving wife of 42 years, Frances (Bledsoe) Johnson. Sisters, June Zehnder and Laura Spears; brother, Paul Johnson; Sisters in Law, Lela Johnson, Penny Bledsoe, & Beverly Rutherford; brother in law, Glenn (Chico) Fee. Left to honor Robert’s memory are his children: Regina (Richi) Keesee & Eric (Ayla) Johnson; grandchildren: Rachel (Matt) Looney, Andrew (Jade) Maxey, Emilee Bellman, Macy (Nathan) Hodge, Beth Ann Johnson, Jeremiah Keessee, & Eli Keessee; great-grandchildren: London Looney, Jett Looney, Alana Bradley, Rowan Maxey, & Harper Bellman. Brothers: Ted Johnson, Ralph (Mary) Johnson; Sisters: Wanda Brock, Ruby Bryant, Faye(Oscar) Ayers, & Gail Quillen; brothers in law: Lee Bledsoe, Danny Rutherford & Joe Glass; sisters in law: Diane(Ronnie) Burke, Donna Glass, Burnadine(Obie) Williams, & Teresa(Calvin) Long; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who will cherish Robert’s memory. The family will receive friends Thursday, October 13, 2022 from 12pm-2pm at Mayes Mortuary 444 W Main St. Morristown, TN. 37814 A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 2pm. Graveside services will follow at Hamblen Memorial Gardens.
