Ruby Gilliam Rogers

Duffield, VA Ruby Gilliam Rogers, 89, of the Jasper Community, passed away on Friday, February 9, 2018 at Heritage Hall Healthcare in Big Stone Gap, VA. She was a lifelong resident of the Jasper Community. Ruby loved quilting, raising a garden, canning, and cooking, having some of the best banana pudding around. She was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Rogers; three sons, Enoch Rogers, and two infants; parents, Emory and Laura (Frazier) Gilliam; siblings, Bonnie Bishop, twins, Don and Millard Gilliam, Venice Rogers, Luther Gilliam and E. M. Gilliam; and daughter-in-law, Neawanna Rogers. Surviving are four sons, Doug (Vivian) Rogers, Rick (Karen) Rogers, both of Duffield, Gary (Sharon) Rogers, Wise, VA and Ralph (Sue Wade) Rogers of Yuma, VA; grandchildren, Melissa (Craig) Birdwell, William (Sharon) Rogers, Ashley (Anthony Head) Rogers, Quinton Rogers, Rachel (Adam Williams) Rogers, Richard (April Rivers) Rogers, Heather Rogers and Justin Beverly; great grandchildren, Braeden and Ryan Birdwell, Jasmine Rogers, Ashton and Elijah Head, Katelyn Hobbs, Alexis, Joshua and Cyrus Rogers, Katelyn and Avery Hall, Hunter (Amanda) Hensley; great-great grandson, Isaiah Hensley; two brothers, Lorin Gilliam of Stanleytown, VA and Elbert Gilliam of Mt. Carmel, TN; sister, Marie Bishop of Jasper; several nieces and nephews; and daughter-in-law, Barbara Rogers of Gate City, VA. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at Holding Funeral Home (17 E. 3rd St., N.) in Big Stone Gap, VA. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jackie Frazier and Rev. John Bishop officiating. Graveside committal services will be held at 12 noon Tuesday at the Jasper Community Cemetery. The family will meet at the funeral home by 11:30 a.m. Tuesday to go in procession to the cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Richard David Curtis Rogers, Quinton Rogers, Hobert Rogers, Jacob Gilliam, John Bishop and Adam Williams. Honorary pallbearer is William Rogers.
