Samuel Carl Monday

Rose Hill, VA- Samuel Carl Monday, age 92, passed into eternal rest on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at his home. Carl was born in Hancock County, TN. the son of the late; Oscar Monday and Mary Stanley Monday, he was one of five children. Carl met and married the love of his life, Alma Chadwell Monday. From their Union, they had two daughters. Carl was a devoted farmer and enjoyed spending time in the sale barns, and at his special friend,J.D. Wilson's feed mill. His devotion to his livestock and raising his cattle was second to none. Carl was a retired school bus driver from Lee County with over 30 years of dedicated service, along with being a devoted family man, a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great- grandfather. Carl was a lifelong member of Ingles Chapel. He will be sorely missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter Sherrie M. Edwards, son in law Robert J. Yeary, brothers, James Curtis Monday, James Alfred Monday "Bud", Morrison Monday, and sister Ruby Dorna. Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 64 years, Alma Monday of the home, daughter Carla Sue Yeary, granddaughters Whitley Yeary and husband Dr. Adam Yeary of Rose Hill, Sydney Carlene Bailey and husband Aaron of Rose Hill, great granddaughter; Carlyn L. Yeary, sister-in-law Phyllis and Ed Jones & a host of other nieces, nephews, close relatives, and friends. The family of Carl Monday will receive friends on Friday, August 16, 2024, at the Praise and Worship Center in Rose Hill, VA., from 5-8 p.m. for the visitation. The funeral service will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. with Pastor Norman Clark officiating. Special music will be provided by Jimmy Barnes & Joyce Williams. His interment in Lee Memorial Gardens will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. There will be a procession at Holding Funeral Home in Rose Hill that will depart for the cemetery at 10:30a.m. The pallbearers will be Adam Yeary, Aaron Bailey, Rick Morelock, Mike Day, David Wooten, and Steven Monday. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Louthen, Gilbert Ingle, and Ricky Williams. A memorial video has been created for family and friends at: (Will be shared soon).
