Big Stone Gap, Virginia Psalm 34:18 The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Shannon Odell Miller, 48, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 23, 2023. Shannon was born in Big Stone Gap, VA. on October 7, 1974, the son of the late Oscar Smith and the late Shirley (Miller) Daniels. Shannon was blessed with 2 sisters and 3 brothers. Shannon worked in the HVAC industry as well as the carpentry industry his entire adult life. He kept busy all the time, and there was never a dull moment. Shannon was an amazing man, always there to lend a hand or an ear. He had an abundance of love from his family and for his family. He had encouragement and support from all that knew and cared for him. Shannon truly loved his nephews, all he talked about was his nephews. Every time he saw a family member he said he would be reminded of the old times. We will all miss him very much. Along with his parents, Shannon was preceded in death by his grandparents, the late Mr. John L. Lewis, and his wife, the late Mrs. Celestine Miller Lewis. his loving step-dad, Joseph Chapman, Jr; his sister, Tiffany Smith and his brother, who is known by everyone as, 'Big Man', as well as several aunts, uncles, and other family members. Shannon is survived by his Siblings; Sister, Latasha Thomas and husband Larry of GA; Brothers, Bobby DeBoard of Big Stone Gap, VA, and William Smith and wife Corsica of Knoxville, TN; His Aunts, Miranda DeBoard and husband Rick, Rosemary Hunter and husband Smokie, and Prince Stella Daniels, all of Big Stone Gap, VA; Gloria Dean Miller of Kingsport, TN; Mary Smith of GA; Anna Shelton and husband Clyde of Big Stone Gap, and Teresa Platt and husband Michael of CA; His Uncles, Abraham Smith of Big Stone Gap, Johnny Lewis and wife Patricia of Kingsport, Sam Smith and wife Shirley of FL, and Mack Lewis and wife Wanda Spaletta of CA; his nephew's, Jamichael Miller, Rushod Wech, Bilal Smith, and Tylee Harris Smith; his great-niece, Myla Flanagan, and a plethora of close cousins, family members, relatives, and friends. The family of Shannon Miller will receive friends on Friday, Feb. 3, 2023, at Holding Funeral Home in Big Stone Gap, VA., from 12-1 p.m. for the visitation. A celebration of life will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Sandra Jones officiating.
