Pennington Gap, Virginia SKYLER PAIGE EWING Skyler Paige Ewing was born on June 15, 1996 at Lee County Community Hospital in Pennington Gap, exactly two minutes after her twin sister, Ashley. Growing up Skyler was a little shy but loved with her whole heart and often worried more about her family and friends than she did herself. She had an infectious laugh and a smile that could light up a room. Her greatest gifts to those left behind are her daughter, Journey Sky and her son, Ryker Evan. She was 5½ months pregnant with her third child, when unexpectedly her unborn baby girl went to be in the arms of Jesus on Sunday, August 8, 2021 until she could be held by her mother four days later on Thursday, August 12, 2021. She was preceded in death by her beautiful baby girl; grandparents, Jimmy Don and Zuane Ely Ewing; great-grandparents, Paul and Faye Ewing, Jess and Mary Cooper Ely, John and Ruby Fortner and Tom and Helen Shackleford; and cousins, John Evan Fortner and Bralynn Fortner. She is survived by her beautiful children, Journey Sky Stapleton and Ryker Evan Collins; her parents, Barry and Michele Ewing of Duffield, Valarie and Keith Dehart of Jonesville; her twin sister, Ashley Ewing and partner, Sheena Lawson of Jonesville; one brother, Dalton Ewing of Pennington Gap; grandparents, Johnny and Alice Fortner of Robbins Chapel; uncles, Jimmy and Ada Ewing of Pennington Gap, Mitch and Melanie Ewing and Johnny and Sharon Fortner of Jonesville; aunts, Patricia Ewing of Pennington Gap; Michele and Stevie (Tootie) Davis of Robbins Chapel; two stepsisters; five step-brothers; several close cousins, Joshua Ewing, Jessica Ewing Daniels, Brandon Chad Ewing, Steven Davis, Derek Davis, Emma Fortner, Mia Fortner and Ava Fortner. Skyler, Goodbyes are not forever, and not the end; it simply means until we meet again. We love you! Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at the Freedom of Worship Church at Dot. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with the Pastor Matthew Thompson officiating. Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 18, 2021, in the Powell Valley Cemetery at Dryden, VA. Those wishing to attend the burial are asked to meet at the church by 10:30 a.m. to go in procession to the cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joshua Ewing, C.S. Janeway, Dalton Ewing, Steven Davis, Derek Davis and Evan Dehart.
