Dryden, Virginia Arnold Ford Britton, 86, of the Big Hill community in Dryden, VA entered into his heavenly home on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. Arnold was born March 29, 1935 to the late John Lewis and Lucretia “Ludie” Britton (Brittain) in Harlan, KY., after school Arnold left KY., to serve his country in the US Army, PFC. Marrying the love of his life Alma Marie Gibson Britton, they lived many years in McHenry, IL., where he had retired from Terra Cotta Industries, Inc. After his retirement, they moved back to VA., to enjoy what he loved to do. Arnold loved to fish, hunt, ginseng hunt, go to church, spend time with his family, long walks on Big Hill and through the woods. Along with his parents, John Lewis and Ludie Daniels Britton, he is preceded in death by his children, Kenneth Clark Britton, Sr., Arnold Floyd Britton, Phillip Charles Britton, and Alma Jean Britton; his brothers, George Britton, Phillip Carr Britton, Robert “Bob” Britton, James Arthur Britton, Franklin D Britton, Jesse Wayne Britton, twins, Sam, and Cam Britton. Arnold leaves behind his wife, Alma Marie Britton; his children, Harrison Randy Britton, Mary Ellen Britton-Turner, and Kyle Jay Britton (Leah Nichole); grandchildren: Kenneth Clark Britton Jr. (Nichole), Kelly Ann Jenkins, Quentin Stephen Britton (Kimberly), Dawn Michele Britton (John Hartmann), Cayla Lyn Britton, Samantha Noel Britton, David Scott Britton (Whitney), Andrew Floyd Now (Ashley), Dakota Nicholas Nussel, and Julianna Rose Britton; and many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and close friends. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM, Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at Holding Funeral Home in Big Stone Gap, VA. Funeral services will be at 12 PM on Wednesday, November 3, 2021, at The Church of The Living God in Pennington Gap, VA. Burial will follow in Powell Valley Cemetery in Dryden, VA., with active military performing the flag ceremony. Family will serve as Pallbearers.
