Mrs. Audrey Smith Morton Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

East Stone Gap, Va. Audrey S. Morton, 81, passed away on Monday (August 17, 2015) at her home. She lived most of her life in East Stone Gap. She was a Produce Manager with the former Piggly Wiggly in Big Stone Gap, Va. Audrey was a Big Stone Gap Rescue Squad “Rescuette.” She was a member of the East Stone Gap Baptist Church. Audrey was preceded in death by her first husband, James Ralph Smith, Sr.; her second husband, George E. Morton; her parents, Burkey and Viola Elizabeth (Smith) Smith; her brother, Toby Smith; and a sister, Betty Rue. Surviving are her sons, James Ralph Smith, Jr. and fiancé, Bobbie Jo Smith, who was a comfort to Audrey, and Jerry Wynn Smith and wife Kris; daughters, Elizabeth A. “Libby” Holbert and husband Curtis, and Sherry Lynn Smith; her aunt, Nellie Burke; grandchildren, Atticus Smith, London Smith, Noah Smith, Fabian Blair and Ryan Blair; great grandchildren,, Lyla Rain Church and Jaxon Ryan Blair; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend and caregiver for Audrey’s mother Viola “Big Mommie” and Audrey, Tammy Creed. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at Holding Funeral Home (17 E. 3rd St., N.) in Big Stone Gap, Va. The funeral service will be conducted at 7 p.m. on Thursday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Bobby Hamilton officiating. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at Glencoe Cemetery. The family and friends will meet at the funeral home by 10:30 a.m. Friday to go in procession.
