Betty A. "Tootie" Back Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Big Stone Gap, VA Betty A. "Tootie" Back, 77, passed away on Saturday (Sept. 1, 2012) at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, TN. She was born in Stonega, VA; lived in many places during her husband's military career, and had lived in Big Stone Gap since 1972. She was a lifetime member of the Col. C. H. Hagy, Chapter #45, D.A.V. in Big Stone Gap. She was a Christian. "Tootie," as she was affectionately known, was preceded in death by her husband, George C. Back; her son, Ben C. Back; a granddaughter, Aubrey L. Back; her parents, Esley & Vada (Poteet) Sizemore; her stepmother, Anna Mae Sizemore; and several brothers and sisters. Surviving her is her daughter, Janet Smith and husband, Jeff of Big Stone Gap; a granddaughter, Amanda Conner and husband, Anthony of Grundy, VA; two "adopted" grandsons, Brandon Watts of Maryville, TN and Jaime Watts of Richmond, VA; two great grandsons, Braxton Back and Espn Evans of Big Stone Gap; two sisters, Shirley Watts and Phyllis Gilly, both of Big Stone Gap; one brother, Arnold Sizemore of Big Stone Gap; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Holding Funeral Home (17 E. 3rd St., N.) in Big Stone Gap. The funeral service will be conducted at 7 p.m. on Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Tony Palubicki officiating. Committal graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens. The family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:50 a.m. on Wednesday.
