Charles E. "Blue Boy" Lambert Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

"To be absent from the body and present with the Lord."-II Corinthians 5:8 Lambert, Charles E. "Blue Boy", 69, born March 28, 1942, of the Seminary Community, left this earth on Sunday (Dec. 4, 2011) at his home. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy. He was a professional truck driver, driving over the road for many years and hauling coal in Wise County, both as an owner/operator and a driver for several trucking companies. He was last employed be Breese Trucking. He was a member of the Haven of Praise Ministries in Appalachia, VA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilmer "Monk" and Pearl Bledsoe Lambert; his sister, Ethel Pauline Lambert Minor; and his nephew, Glen Lambert. Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Peggy Parsons Lambert; his beloved son, David Lambert of Big Stone Gap; his godchild, Jesse Burke Franklin; a very special great nephew, Jeremy Parsons; he also leaves behind his brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Irene Lambert of Big Stone Gap; as well as a brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and a host of other family and friends. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday at Holding Funeral Home (17 E. 3rd St., N.) in Big Stone Gap. The funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Monday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Lee Stidham officiating. Music will be provided by April Burke and Jesse Burke Franklin. Military rites, local V.F.W. and D.A.V. posts and the Virginia National Guard Honors team, will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens. The family and friends will meet at the funeral home by 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday to go in procession. Pallbearers will be: David Lambert, Jeremy Parsons, Casey Grubb, Will Parsons, Danny Boggs and Johnny Lovell.
