Garry L. Cottrell Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Garry L. Cottrell Garry Lynn Cottrell age 69, of Rose Hill, VA passed away at UT Medical Center with family by his side early July 1, 2022. Garry was of the Pentecostal Holiness Faith. He was born in Lee County, Virginia and a graduate of Thomas Walker High School class of 1970. After graduating he made his way into the electrical field spending his career working for I.B.E.W local 369 electrical union from where he retired in 1993. Garry loved farming, growing tobacco, raising cows and enjoyed working on restoring tractors and trucks. He married the love of his life November 27, 1989 and for the next 32 years built a life and a home together with a lot of hard work, a lot of love, laughter and a lifetime of precious memories. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Bill and Alma Cottrell. One brother, Danny Cottrell; stepson Jonathan Carson. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years of the home, Robin Cottrell, Son, Jason (Julie) Cottrell of Terry, Mississippi; Son, Travis Cottrell of New Tazewell; Tn; Sister Joetta (Doug) Hensley of Rose Hill, VA; Sister in law, Helen Cottrell of Villa Rica, Georgia; brother in law Roy (Donna) Carson of Blountville, TN; three grandchildren, Clara Cottrell, Dalton Long, and Nicole Fee; other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. The family will receive friends on Wednesday July 6th, 2022 at Calvary Baptist Church from 5:00-7:00 p.m. The service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. with pastors: Jimmy Ewing, Douglas Hensley & Eric Scott officiating. The burial will be held on Thursday, July 7th, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. in the Daniels Cemetery at Balls Chapel Church. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery for the graveside service. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
