Big Stone Gap VA, Gary Lee Stipe, 63, went to be with the Lord on Monday (Dec. 22, 2014) at Mountain View Regional Hospital in Norton VA. He was born to the parents Earnest and Magdalene (Williams) Stipe, on September 19, 1951. He attended the West End Baptist church as long as he was able until his health failed him. He graduated from Powell Valley High School class of 1972. Gary loved being with people, and he truly cared for children. He was a loving son, brother, and friend. He was preceded in death by his father; Earnest Stipe. He is survived by his mother; Magdalene “Williams’ Stipe of the home, brother; Jeffrey “Salt” Stipe and (wife) Donna; niece, Amy (husband) Robert Brewer ;nephew, Jason Stipe, great nephew, Elijah Brewer whom he truly loved; some honorary brothers; Jimmy Fleenor, and Ronald Hollinger; several aunts , uncles ,and other close relatives and friends. The family will receive friends on Tuesday (Dec. 23, 2014) from 6pm until 8 p.m. at Holding Funeral Home in Big Stone Gap for the visitation. The funeral service will be conducted following the visitation in the funeral home’s chapel with the; Pastor Josh Tompkins, officiating. Special music will be provided by the; Christian Music band, “Glimpse of Grace” The committal service will be held on Wednesday (Dec. 24, 2014) in the Glencoe Mausoleum. The family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home by 1:30 p.m. to go in procession to the cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
