Maggie Russell Swecker Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Church Hill, TN Maggie Russell Swecker, 91, of War Valley, went to be with the Lord late on Monday (May 28, 2012) at her home following a brief illness. She was born in Duffield, VA and lived the majority of her life in the Jasper Community of Duffield. She enjoyed crocheting, working with her flowers and she loved spending time with her animals. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Glen Swecker; a son, James Swecker; two grandsons, Glen Swecker and Jimmy Swecker, II; several brothers and sisters and a long time companion, George Seal. She is survived by two daughters, Tiny Teran of Maryland and Charlotte Gates and her husband, Bo, of Keedysville, Maryland; five sons, Jimmy Ray Swecker, Sr and wife, Fay, Church Hill, Odell Swecker of Morristown, Johnny Swecker and wife, Tweet of Damascus, MD, Jay Swecker of Brunswick, MD and Jay "Spanky" Swecker and wife, Angel of Kingsport; several grandchildren; several great grandchildren; sister, Lucille Seal of Frederick, MD; brother, R. Haskew Russell of Frederick, MD; and several nieces and nephews. The family will recieve friends from 6 to 7 p.m. on Friday at Holding Funeral Home (17 E. 3rd St., N.) in Big Stone Gap, VA. The funeral service will be conducted at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. James Adams officiating. Committal services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday in the Jennings Family Cemetery in Duffield, VA. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery by 10:15 a.m. Pallbearers will be: Justin Swecker, Jason Garbart, Franklin Dobbs, Robert Duvall, Jr., Curtis Collins and Spanky Swecker.
