Mrs. Mary Sue Dickenson

East Stone Gap, Virginia Mary Sue Dickenson 85 passed away peacefully on Thursday (Aug, 14, 2014) at Holston Valley Medical Center with her family by her side. Mary was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and devoted Christian. She was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist church. She instilled in all of her family to carry the cross, so much so that her devotion to Christ is evident across her entire family. Cooking for her family was a great pastime for her, she was always caring, and compassionate to all that knew her. As her family put it she was a “Saint”. She was preceded in death by her husband; Robert Vincent Dickenson, two sons; Charles Dickenson, and Robert Edward Dickenson, and one granddaughter Marcie Dickenson. She is survived by her eight children; Wanda Sorah (husband) Don of Big Stone, Tom Dickenson (wife) Deanna of East Stone, Jerry Dickenson of Gainesville Florida, Debbie Dickenson of Dryden, Etta Pleasant (husband) Kenny of Big Stone, Pam Stacy (husband) Herbert of Big Stone, Sarah Reynolds (husband) Brian of Dryden, Mike Dickenson, (wife) Leslie of Big Stone, daughter- in- law Pat Dickenson, two brothers; Billy Register and Jimmy Register, and one sister; Sarah Garber all of FL, twenty- one Grandchildren, and twenty- five great grandchildren, many other close relatives and friends. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 4 until 7 for the Visitation at Holding Funeral Home in Big Stone Gap, Virginia. The funeral service will be conducted following the visitation in the Funeral Home’s chapel with the Pastors Mike Jones, and Alan Collier officiating. Special Music will be provided by; Russell Phillips and Peggy Gibson Pallbearers will be; Chris Stacy, Michael Stacy, Donnie Sorah, Tony Dickenson, Shannon Dickenson, Aaron Pleasant, Ken Winebarger and Josh Phillips. The committal service will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. in the Powell Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery; Those wishing to attend the committal are asked to meet at the Funeral Home by 10:30 to go in procession to the cemetery.
