Big Stone Gap, VA Richard Allen Lomax, 74, passed away Sunday, Sept. 17, 2017 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, KY. Richard is one of four children, born to Fred and Bessie (Pierce) Lomax on Jan. 11, 1943 in Osaka, VA. He attended Osaka Elementary and Bland High School. He attended an x-ray technology school in Minneapolis, MN. Richard moved to Hartford, CT, where he was employed by the Institute of Living. He then returned to Big Stone Gap and accepted employment with the Eastman Chemical Co. in Kingsport, where he retired after 30 years of service and take care of his ailing mother. Richard loved playing the piano and worshiping the Lord. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Bessie (Pierce) Lomax; and his half-sister, Rebecca Hale. He leaves to cherish his memories, Donald Lomax of Roanoke, VA and Jimmy Ray Lomax of Big Stone Gap; his sister, Annie Ruth Juanso of Lexington, KY; three nephews, Ramon Juanso of Lexington, KY, Renaldo Juanso of California; and Sean Lomax of Big Stone Gap; two nieces, Seymon McCoo of Texas and Shanee Lomax of Big Stone Gap; and a host of great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends. Family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday (Sept. 26, 2017) at Holding Funeral Home (17 E. 3rd St., N.) in Big Stone Gap. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday (Sept. 27, 2017) at the Heritage Church of God (775 Wood Avenue, E.) in Big Stone Gap with Apostle Yanthophalees Jackson officiating.
