Mr. Richard G. "Rick" McMahan

May 11, 1958 - March 23, 2016

Big Stone Gap, VA Richard G. “Rick” McMahan, 57, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday (Mar. 23, 2016) at Heritage Hall Healthcare in Big Stone Gap. He was a lifelong resident of Big Stone Gap. He was a mechanic, by trade and enjoyed fishing and the outdoors. Rick was born into the family of God on February 20, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, O. B. McMahan, Jr. and Shirley (Sampson) McMahan. Surviving are his daughter, Casey Smith and husband, Nate of Big Stone Gap; one granddaughter, Charity Marie Smith; two sisters, Debra Pitts and husband, Jimmy of Appalachia, VA, and Linda Dickenson and husband, Dewey of Big Stone Gap; one nephew, J. D. Pitts; two nieces, Michele Thompson and Jessie Martin; two great nephews, Logan Thompson and Luke Martin; one great niece, Lucy Martin; and a host of other family and friends. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday (Mar. 25, 2016) at Holding Funeral Home (17 E. 3rd St., N.) in Big Stone Gap. The funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Dewey Dickenson and Evangelist Buddy Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at American Legion Cemetery in Big Stone Gap. Pallbearers will be: Nate Smith, Jimmy Martin, J. D. Pitts, Mike Warner, Phillip Holyfield, & Kirby Durham.
