Appalachia, VA Roger D. Massengill,64, passed away on Saturday (Aug 20, 2016) at his residence in Appalachia Virginia. Roger was a wounded veteran who served the country honorably in the United States Marine Corps, during combat in the Vietnam era Roger was wounded in action and received his full retirement from the battle. He was awarded the purple heart for his heroism, and courage. He was procedded in death by his parents Walter and Janet Massengill, his sister Joan Massengill. He is survived by; Sisters Rhada and husband Lewis Wesley of OH, Brenda Johnson of Appalachia, Susie Barker of Big Stone Gap, Pam McKay of FL, Tammy Massengill of Big Stone Gap, Brother and wife Carolyn Massengill and Walter Massengill of Illinois. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 10a.m. until noon for the visitation at Holding Funeral Home in Big Stone Gap VA. The funeral service will be conducted following in the chapel. The committal service will follow in the Mountain Home National Cemetery in Johnson City TN; Military Honors will be administered by the United States Marines honor guard.
