Mr. Vivion Harold Skeen

Big Stone Gap VA Vivion Harold Skeen 87, passed away peacefully on Jan 12, 2014 at Mountain View Regional Medical Center. He was a devoted father, husband, and friend. A member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, A lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post 5715, He was a WWII veteran, having served his country honorably in the United States Navy. During his military service he served several tours during WWII in the south pacific. He was a longtime member of the Masons achieved the 32nd degree of Mason's from the lodge in Cincinnati. He was preceded in death by his parents James and Louise Skeen He is survived by his loving wife Christine Gilley Skeen of the home, two children; Jay Skeen (wife) Pamela of Poway CA, daughter; Gilda (husband) John Carroll of Wendell N.C.; four grandchildren ; John, Jessica, Amanda, Spencer; three great grandchildren Austin, Haley, Anna Belle, one brother Jay Lee Skeen of Abington VA, other close family and friends. The family will receive friends on Wednesday at Holding Funeral Home from 2 p.m. until 4 for the visitation (17. E. 3rd St. N) The funeral service will be conducted following the visitation in the funeral home chapel with the Pastor Terry Goodman officiating. Masonic rites, by the Big Stone Gap Masonic Lodge # 208 A.F.& A.M., will be held prior to the funeral ceremony. Military honors will be conducted following the Masonic Rites by the Local V.F.W. and D. A. V. post.
