Mr. Willie "Duke" Barker Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Appalachia Virginia, Willie Earnest Barker Jr. “Duke”- 67 was embraced in the arms of Jesus November 25, 2015 at Indian Path Medical Center in Kingsport, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents Willie Barker Sr., Thelma and Rob Taylor, brothers Joe Barker, Buster and Tommy Taylor, maternal grandparents Robert and “Big Mam” Lovell, paternal grandparents Otis and Lilly Barker, and his precious newborn son, Danny Wayne and great granddaughter; Kaydence Carroll. Bro Duke was the Pastor and Co-Founder of Thee Church in Appalachia. He was retired from Bresee Trucking after 30+ years of service. He loved God, Church, and his family. Surviving are his loving wife of 48 years Shirley Barker of the home. Children Vera Mabe husband Kenny , David Barker and wife Renee all of Appalachia, and Willie Barker III of Big Stone Gap. Grandchildren Kasi Carpenter husband Rick, Hailee Conner husband Brad, Sarandon Bradley husband Charlie, Jordan Mabe wife Stephanie, Ariel Barker, A. J. Barker wife Marie, Brianna Tomlinson, Kirsten Barker, Justin Barker, Blake Carroll wife Kayla and Tyler Carroll, Amanda Barker, and Kiley Barker. Great grandchildren Jackson, Kristen, Jake, Dane, Rylan, Kenlee, Kenny Paul, Dalee, Bricen, and three unborn. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, and Brothers and Sisters in Christ. A viewing will be held Monday November 30, 2015 from 4-7 pm at Thee Church in Appalachia. A church service will be immediately after with Preacher Willie Barker III bringing forth the message. The family would like to thank Dr. Bryan Watson, and the staff of Indian Path I.C.U. the staff of the Mountain Empire Dialysis Center, and Mountain Region Home Health for their attentive care.
