Carl Franklin Duvall

Ewing, Virginia Carl Franklin Duvall, age 91, passed away at his daughter’s home on Thursday, October 23, 2025, surrounded by his family. Carl was born in Elva, TN, the son of Clyde Franklin Duvall and Flora (Blevins) Duvall. Carl was a strong-willed man who enjoyed talking with his friends and family. He was an outdoorsman who liked to fish and hunt. He worked as a farmer and on stationary boiler equipment at power plants. He was married to his late wife, Loretta (Hensley) Duvall, for 68 years. The young couple began their lives together in Ohio. While living in Ohio, the family grew by two, then they moved to Kentucky, where their final child was born. The family moved back to Ewing, Virginia, in the 1970s. Upon moving back to Ewing, they farmed and raised their family in a loving home. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Loretta M. Duvall, daughter Glenis Duvall, son-in-law Neal Leonard, siblings Frank Duvall and Carolyn Taubert, and daughter-in-law Syreta Duvall. He is survived by his children, Greg Duvall, Florence, KY; Sherri Leonard, Harrogate, TN; Eric Duvall, wife Ineabelle, Powder Springs, GA.,Grandchildren: Michael Leonard, wife April, New Tazewell, TN; Joseph Leonard, wife Jacqueline, Harrogate, TN; Spencer Leonard, Harrogate, TN; Jarrett Duvall, wife Shauna, Florence, KY; Angelina Duvall, Powder Springs, GA. Great-grandchildren: Brayden, Ella, and Ansley Leonard, New Tazewell, TN; Jorden (Clay) Posey, Fayetteville, NC; Jessie, Jayden, and Jackson Funk, Tazewell, TN; Sam and Maddie Duvall, Florence, KY; great great granddaughter, Ryver Jo Martin, and a future grandson (Levi Jackson Posey), several nieces, nephews, close relatives, and friends. The family of Carl Duvall will receive friends on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at Holding Funeral Home in Rose Hill from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for visitation. The funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Richard Long officiating. Special music will be provided by Arthur’s Chapel Church. Burial will follow in the Herbert and Pearlie Hensley Family Cemetery (Bethany Rd., Ewing, VA). Pallbearers will be Michael Leonard, Joseph Leonard, Spencer Leonard, Eric Duvall, Greg Duvall, Brayden Leonard, and Jackson Funk.
