Carter Lynn "Coconut" Garrett

Keokee, VA- Carter Lynn "Coconut" Garrett age 68, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2024 at Holston Valley Medical Center surrounded by his family. Carter was born in Pennington Gap, VA the son of the late Clarence Garrett and Wilma Garrett he was one of eight children. He was a member of the Missionary Baptist church in Raw-Hide. Carter was a "Jack of all Trades" who always exemplified hard work and dedication to ensure his family was well provided for. His kind heart, and loving ways are fondly remembered by his family. His family was his whole world, and he will be deeply missed by all those who knew him. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Dreama Garrett, his brothers, Danny Garrett and Michael Garrett, two sisters, Sheila Young and Sandra Collins. Left to cherish his memory his wife, Marie Garrett of the home, daughters, Julie Glovier and husband Jeffrey, & Kasie Garrett, his sons whom he referred to as his "Cats" Blake and Aiden Fleming, grandchildren, Kristen Sizemore and husband Gavin, Alexis McKinney, Caitlin Johnson, Remington Short, Kristen Glovier, and Justin Glovier, three great grandchildren, Karter Mae Sizemore, Nyoka Glovier, and Berkley Lou Marie McKinney, his brothers, Rod Garrett and wife Lori, Steve Garrett and wife Dorothy, Kerry Garrett and wife Loribeth, several other close friends, nieces, nephews and other relatives. The family would like to express their gratitude to all the staff at Holston Valley Medical Center for all there help and care. The family will receive friends on Monday, May 27, 2024 at Holding Funeral Home in Big Stone Gap, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. for the visitation. His funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home's chapel with Pastor Paul Davis Jr. officiating. His committal service will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in the Gates Family Cemetery in (Raw-Hide) Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at Holding Funeral Home at 10:30 to travel in procession to the graveside. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
