Coy Wayne Chadwell

Matthew 25:21 (KJV): "His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord" Coy Wayne Chadwell age 79, passed into eternal glory on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Coy was born in Lee County, Virginia, to the late Zan Chadwell and Laura Ely Chadwell. He was their only child. He graduated from Thomas Walker High School and, following graduation, honorably served his country in the United States Army. He was a deacon at Rose Dale Baptist Church for over 30 years. After returning home, Coy met and married the love of his life, June Ramsey. They were married soon afterward and shared 57 wonderful years together, building a life centered on love, faith, and family. Coy found his greatest joy in raising his only child Jacque, and later treasured his role as "Popaw" to his grandchildren, who were the light of his life. Coy was an avid golfer and a true outdoorsman who enjoyed countless days fishing and hunting. He was a devoted sports fan who enjoyed watching just about any sporting event and never missed an opportunity to cheer on his beloved Tennessee Volunteers. He also loved spending time watching classic Westerns on television. More than anything, Coy's greatest passion was supporting his grandchildren. Whether on the ball field, the court, or anywhere they competed, he was their biggest fan and loudest supporter. He took immense pride in their accomplishments and rarely missed a game, creating treasured memories that will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Coy was preceded in death by his parents, Zan and Laura Ely Chadwell; his beloved son-in-law, Boo Hollandsworth; his parents-in-law, Frank and Ruby Ramsey; and his brother-in-law, Jim Kelley. Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 57 years, June Chadwell, of the home; his loving daughter, Jacque Hollandsworth; his cherished grandchildren, Emily Pittman and her husband, Justin, and Adam Hollandsworth & Abby, and a precious great-grandchild "baby Hollandsworth", who is expected soon, his sister-in-law, Edie Kelley; his brother-in-law, Gerald Ramsey and wife, Cheryl; as well as several nieces, nephews, other beloved relatives, and many dear friends. Coy also leaves behind his special cousin, Susie McCuiston, and his lifelong friend, Doug Pillion and wife, June Etta, whose friendship and love meant so much throughout his life. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 10, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Holding Funeral Home in Rose Hill. A funeral service will be held following with Pastor Kevin Jerrell officiating. Special Music will be provided by Sharon King. A graveside committal service will be held on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in the Ramsey-Miracle family cemetery (Giles Hollow) those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home at 12:30 to go in procession to the cemetery. A military rites ceremony will be conducted by the active duty Virginia Army military honors team. A memorial video has been created for family and will be updated by Holding Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Adam Hollandsworth, Justin Pittman, Jimmy Mitchell, Jimmy Kelley, Aiden Grabeel, and Thomas Long.
