Danetta Sue Payne Stidham

Appalachia, VA- Danetta Sue Stidham, passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior on March 16, 2024, at the age of 57 in Appalachia, Virginia, after a valiant battle with cancer. Born on January 23, 1967, in Norton Community, she was a beacon of joy and kindness throughout her life. Danetta was a graduate of Appalachia High School, class of 1985, where she formed many lifelong friendships and memories. She was a dedicated employee, having spent many years serving the community at Mutual Pharmacy and later sharing smiles at KFC until her retirement. Her work ethic and warm demeanor were appreciated by colleagues and customers alike. Those who knew Danetta will recall her infectious laughter and the thoughtful way she approached everyone she met. She had a knack for making people feel loved and valued, often through her humor and the simple act of being present. Danetta was also a woman of great passion when it came to her interests. She was an avid player of games, especially Yahtzee, which she enjoyed playing with her mother-in-law until the early hours of the morning. These moments of joy and competition were among her most treasured times. She truly enjoyed times spent with Glenda Flanary where they shared and spoke often about God and her eternal destination. As we say goodbye to Danetta, we celebrate the remarkable woman she was. Her impact on our lives is immeasurable, and she will be profoundly missed by her family, a host of other close relatives, and numerous friends whose lives she touched. She now joins in eternal peace her late brother, Samuel Derwin Payne, and her maternal grandparents, Ruby and Woodrow Lovell, as well as her paternal grandparents, Shelby and Ethel Payne, and numerous aunts and uncles who have paved the way before her. She leaves behind her husband, Harold Stidham Jr., She was a cherished daughter to her father, Daniel Payne ( Carmen) and her mother, Susie Payne. Her legacy of love and laughter continues through her children, daughter Kaela (Jamie) Earnis, and sons, Daniel Stidham (Tiffany) and Hunter Stidham (Summer). Danetta's grandchildren, Isabella and Jamilyn, were the joy of her life, her brother, Bo Payne (Selena), other close relatives and friends. She will be laid to rest in Powell Valley Memorial Gardens.
