NANNIE ELLEN KILBOURNE- BIG STONE GAP Nannie Ellen Kilbourne, a cherished matriarch and a beacon of faith and love, passed away on December 19, 2025, at the age of 89, after a period of long-term health decline. Born on May 14, 1936, in Wise County, Nannie was a lifelong resident of the community she held dear to her heart. Her journey on this earth came full circle as she departed in the same town where she first graced this world with her presence. Nannie's life was a testament to her unwavering faith and the deep love she carried for her family. She was preceded in death by the father of her children, Milton Morgan Conkin; her beloved husband, Bud Kilbourne; her parents; and her infant son, Daniel Darrell Conkin, as well as her treasured granddaughter, Callie Mia. She leaves behind a legacy of love and memories that will continue to live on through her children, David Conkin, Dale Conkin, and Anna Conkin. Her grandchildren, Ashley and Ellen, Dale Jr. and Tiffany, Billy Wayne, and Chasity Nicole, will forever hold in their hearts the thoughtful guidance and faith-filled wisdom she imparted. Alongside her immediate family, Nannie's memory will also be cherished by other close relatives and friends, all of whom found comfort in her nurturing presence. Nannie was a devout Christian, and her commitment to her faith was evident in the way she lived her life. She attended services at most of the local churches, where she found great joy in fellowship and worship. Her involvement in church activities was not just a pastime but a core part of who she was—a loving mother and a guiding light to all who knew her. Those who knew Nannie best would describe her as thoughtful, always considering the needs and feelings of others before her own. Her faith-filled nature was a source of strength and inspiration, not only to her family but also to the wider community. Her gentle spirit and kind-heartedness were the hallmarks of her character, and these qualities resonated in every interaction and relationship she nurtured throughout her life.
